This is an architecture-ownership role, not a ticket-queue role. You'll be the named senior engineer for two to three client accounts - typically a bank or NBFC's core lending platform, or a hospital chain's patient-facing systems - responsible for the integration architecture, the uptime SLA, and the technical relationship with the client's own engineering team.

You'll work closely with our technology practice lead and with the client-facing teams from our BFSI and healthcare industry practices, which means your architecture decisions get real regulatory and compliance context, not just a feature spec.

What you'll do

  • Own the integration architecture for 2-3 enterprise client accounts, primarily in BFSI and healthcare.
  • Design and build APIs and backend services in Node.js and Java, meeting contracted uptime SLAs.
  • Lead architecture and code review for the engineers working on your accounts.
  • Work directly with client engineering teams to integrate with core banking, loan management or hospital information systems.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for managed-uptime accounts you own.
  • Document architecture decisions and tradeoffs so the system survives beyond any one engineer.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including production system design.
  • Strong experience with Node.js or Java, and comfort working across both.
  • Experience designing and operating APIs at production scale, with real uptime accountability.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis).
  • Experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform.
  • Comfortable communicating architecture decisions directly to a client's engineering team.

Nice to have, not required

  • Experience integrating with core banking, loan management or hospital information systems.
  • Exposure to ISO 27001 or PCI-DSS-aligned engineering practices.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading a small team.

How hiring works for this role

Four steps, two to three weeks, an answer either way.

01

A 30-minute intro call

With the hiring manager directly - a real conversation about the role and what you're looking for next.

02

A paid architecture exercise

A scoped, paid take-home exercise based on a real (anonymised) integration problem - a few hours of work, reviewed by the team you'd join.

03

A working session with the team

Meet the people you'd actually work with and ask them anything - this goes both ways.

04

A final conversation and a decision

A closing call with a practice lead, followed by a decision within a week either way.

Questions about this role

Frequently asked

Both, roughly in equal measure. You'll design the integration architecture for client systems and also write production code yourself - this isn't a role where you hand designs off to someone else to build.

Primarily Node.js and Java on the backend, PostgreSQL and Redis for data, and AWS for infrastructure. We care more about strong fundamentals and system-design thinking than exact stack overlap - a strong engineer from an adjacent stack can ramp up quickly here.

Typically two to three accounts at a time, each with a named architecture owner - you, for the accounts assigned to you. It's more exposed than being one of many engineers on a single account, and it's also how people grow fastest here.

Yes, on a rotating basis for the managed-uptime accounts you own, with clear escalation paths and compensated on-call time - this isn't unpaid always-on availability.
