Ranking pages vs. being the answer

When generative engine optimization becomes the better choice

Your competitors get recommended by ChatGPT and Perplexity - you don’t

When someone asks an AI assistant for a recommendation in your category, the model needs to have seen your brand described clearly and credibly somewhere it trusts.

Your best content isn’t structured in a way AI models can extract and cite

Long, unstructured pages get summarised badly or skipped entirely in favour of competitors’ more extractable answers.

You have no visibility into how AI assistants describe your brand

Without a way to monitor AI answers, you don’t know if you’re being recommended, ignored, or misrepresented.

Traditional SEO tactics don’t translate directly to generative search

Keyword density and backlink volume matter less than being the clear, quotable, trustworthy source a model chooses to cite.

Generative engine optimization services from audit to ongoing visibility

One team for AI-visibility strategy, content structuring, technical implementation and citation monitoring.

Our GEO services cover the full lifecycle: AI-visibility audit and competitive analysis, content and entity strategy, technical and structured-data implementation, and ongoing citation monitoring. One Milleniance team remains accountable from the first audit through ongoing optimisation.

Discipline 01

AI-visibility audit & competitive analysis

Assessing how AI assistants currently describe, or ignore, your brand, and how competitors are being cited, before defining a prioritised visibility roadmap.
AI-answer visibility audit (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot)Competitor citation & share-of-voice analysisEntity & brand-clarity assessmentPrioritised visibility roadmap

Our audit work maps which queries in your category already surface AI-generated answers, and where your brand is present, absent or mischaracterised.

Discipline 02

Content & entity strategy

Structuring content and brand information around clear entities and answerable questions - the format AI models actually draw from when generating responses.
Answer-first content strategyEntity & knowledge graph alignmentFAQ & structured Q&A contentTopical authority mapping

Strategy work prioritises clear, well-sourced, directly answerable content over keyword-stuffed pages, since that’s what models tend to extract and cite.

Discipline 03

Technical & structured-data implementation

Implementing the schema markup, structured data and technical signals that make your content machine-readable and citation-ready for AI crawlers.
Schema markup & structured data (Organization, FAQ, Product)llms.txt & AI crawler accessibilityContent structuring for extractabilityAuthoritative source signalling

Implementation ensures AI crawlers can actually access, parse and trust your content, since visibility work is wasted if the underlying pages aren’t machine-readable.

Discipline 04

Citation monitoring & ongoing optimisation

Tracking how and where your brand appears across AI assistants over time, and iterating content and structure based on what’s actually improving citations.

Monitoring work tracks real citation behaviour across assistants so effort goes toward what’s demonstrably improving how often and how accurately your brand gets recommended.

GEO tools and technology

We choose GEO tooling around your platform, category and the assistants your customers actually use.

Our GEO stack includes structured-data, monitoring and content technologies built for how AI assistants read the web. This is a fast-moving discipline, so tooling is reviewed and updated as the ecosystem changes.

Frequently asked

What our clients usually ask before the first call.

GEO is the practice of making your brand and content visible, accurately described and citable inside AI-generated answers - from ChatGPT and Perplexity to Google AI Overviews. It shares some overlap with SEO, like crawlability, authority and structure, but optimises specifically for how large language models extract, summarise and cite information, rather than for ranking a link on a results page. It’s also sometimes called answer engine optimization (AEO).

No. AI assistants generate answers dynamically and no agency can guarantee a specific citation. What we can do is structure your content and brand signals so a model is far more likely to find, trust and cite you when a relevant question comes up, and track whether that’s happening over time.

Yes. Traditional search still drives significant transactional traffic, and many of the same fundamentals - crawlable, well-structured, authoritative content - underpin both. GEO builds on top of solid SEO, it doesn’t replace it. See our SEO service for the traditional search side.

Through citation and mention tracking across the AI assistants relevant to your category, share-of-voice reporting against competitors, and AI-referred traffic where it’s measurable. We report on what’s actually changing, not just activity completed.

Technical and structural fixes can influence how models parse your content within weeks of their next crawl, though citation behaviour can take longer to shift meaningfully. Because this is an emerging and fast-changing discipline, we treat GEO as an ongoing, iterative practice rather than a one-time project.
